The second of twelve rounds was completed yesterday. Today we plan to fly the remaining ten rounds. The weather looks good.

Recommendation: bring warm clothing. Despite the bright sun, it will remain cool. The take-off and landing site remains as usual.

We have a new German Champion:

Linus Schubert, 17, won the Open German Championship in the overall ranking ahead of Slovenia’s Matjaz Sluga and Sergej Usanoff from Lithuania. Last year’s winner, Lennard Schubert, came in fourth, followed by Fanol Shala in fifth place.

A big surprise came from just 14-year-old Lennard Grob from Gersfeld, who managed to place seventh in the international field, pushing himself far to the front. The highly favored World Champion and world number one Yang Chen from China faltered in the final round under diminishing winds at the Wasserkuppe and had to settle for tenth place.

The German women’s champion title went to flight instructor Annalena Trabert, who also lives in Gersfeld.

A total of 11 out of a maximum of 12 rounds were flown. Linus was the only pilot in the field to achieve all 11 rounds with less than 5 cm deviation from the center of the target disc. With this, he extended his world record, which he set just six weeks ago, to 83 consecutive flights within 5 cm.

On Monday and Tuesday, the International Friendship Cup will take place. 80 athletes from 29 countries – including South Korea, China, Mongolia, and Taiwan – have gathered at the Wasserkuppe in the tri-border region of Hesse, Bavaria, and Thuringia to determine their World Cup winners.

The finals will start on Thursday with eight rounds.
The last round and medal ceremony are scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m.
Sunday serves as a reserve day in case all rounds cannot be flown on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
